Andorra looks to the future: key takeaways from the Forbes Economic Andorra Summit 2025

On April 10th, Andorra la Vella hosted the Forbes Economic Andorra Summit 2025, an event that placed the Principality at the center of international economic discussion. Institutional representatives, investors, business leaders, and experts in sustainability and innovation gathered to discuss the major strategic pillars that will shape the country's future in a changing global context.

At IS21, we wanted to collect the key ideas that emerged during the event, as they help us understand not only where Andorra is now, but where it wants to go.

Andorra consolidates its position as an innovative economic hub

One of the main conclusions was Andorra's consolidation as an innovative economic hub, with GDP growth of 3.4% and a GDP per capita notably higher than the regional average. These figures, highlighted by Finance Minister Ramon Lladós, reflect the resilience of the Andorran model and its ability to position itself as an attractive location for new businesses.

This appeal is reinforced by a competitive tax framework and high legal stability, two factors which, according to the study presented by Sigma2, are decisive for 74.7% of investors. With a reduction in public debt to 31.8% of GDP, Andorra conveys confidence and legal security—essential elements for those looking to establish themselves or invest for the long term.

Tourism and sustainability: new engines of growth

But Andorra's vision for the future is not based solely on macroeconomic data. The proposed model focuses on sustainable sectors with the capacity to transform the economy from the ground up. Tourism linked to nature and sports, which represents 60% of the country's appeal, is being complemented by initiatives focused on environmental sustainability. During the Summit, companies like Social Energy presented energy self-sufficiency projects that demonstrate how economic development can go hand in hand with environmental responsibility.

This same logic of sustainability and added value also extends to the local business fabric, where entrepreneurship and family businesses emerge as key drivers for economic diversification. Cases such as Heracles Group or the biotechnology company Cellab show that Andorra can be an ideal platform for innovative initiatives with international impact. Andorra Business, as a dynamic agent, has played a prominent role in coordinating these spaces for discussion and promoting a modern and open business vision.

Digitalization and public-private collaboration

All of this fits within a clear commitment to digital transformation and collaboration between public and private sectors, a cross-cutting theme throughout the Summit. The creation of funds such as Actyus Fintech by Andbank, and the announcement of public investments in technologies like artificial intelligence, reinforce this direction. Digitalization is not only seen as a tool but as one of the pillars of the future model that Andorra wants to build.

This Forbes Summit has made it clear that Andorra not only seeks to adapt to global changes but wants to become an active protagonist in building a more diversified, digital, sustainable, and competitive economic model.
